Jiang Jinling is one of the Taiwanese artists participating in this year’s 82nd “Genten” Exhibition in Japan. Her artistic practice takes natural plants, flowers, birds, and the subtropical life landscape of Taiwan as important visual elements. Her participating works, Emotional Journey in the Lotus Pond and Shell Ginger in Full Bloom Attracts Birds, have been positioned by critics as representative of “subtropical life force, impasto color, and erotic ecology,” indicating that her artistic background is closely connected to natural life, ecological perception, color energy, and emotional projection.

Jiang Jinling was recommended as a “Genten Fellow” in this year’s exhibition. This status shows that her works are not merely selected for exhibition, but have further gained recognition within the institutional system of Japan’s Genten. Shell Ginger in Full Bloom Attracts Birds also received the “Japan Kusakabe Award.”

Jiang Jinling’s works take natural plants, flowers, and birds as their main subjects. Through vivid colors and substantial brushstrokes, they present the distinctive intensity of life found in Taiwan’s subtropical environment. Emotional Journey in the Lotus Pond and Shell Ginger in Full Bloom Attracts Birds do not simply depict natural scenery; rather, they transform natural landscapes into images interwoven with emotion, sensory experience, and vitality.
Within the exhibition space of The National Art Center, Tokyo, Jiang Jinling’s works bring Taiwan’s subtropical landscape into the view of Japanese audiences, while also transforming images of Taiwanese nature into a contemporary artistic language that can be read by international viewers.
